Accessibility
This web site is designed in accordance with the principles of the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 1.0. It aims for AAA compliance across its main content pages, but it is acknowledged that the nature of the subject matter that it deals with, which can only be fully expressed with images, will limit its accessibility for at least a few users.
The site has been specified for and tested with Internet Explorer 6, Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and Opera 8.02. It should also work with palm held devices and web enabled mobile phones and will degrade into some of the older browsers and text only browsers.
It should work well with screenreaders and other assistive technology.
Whilst the use of Flash for the enlarged presentations of images does require a plug-in, it is one that most computers currently have. This feature adds value, but only offers an alternative format of the images present in the standard web pages. For some with visual impairment the ability to enlarge to full screen in this way and to further enlarge sections by zooming in may improve the accessibility of the content.
A few of the Flash files are under 100 KB, the largest are around 250 KB, but the majority are about 150 KB in size. They will be usable on a modem connection, but will be slow to load in comparison to the site's other pages. With broadband they should load reasonably quickly. The download times of the standard web pages are intended to be practical, but the image rich nature of the content means that they will be slower than plain text pages.
If you experience any problems with the accessibility or usability of this site please report them to Barrie Codling Wedding Photography and we will relay that information to the site's designers Priority3.
